Global Action on Disability (GLAD Network) Welcomes the State Department as Its Newest Co-Chair
On June 13, 2022, Sara Minkara, the U.S. Special Advisor on International Disability Rights, announced that the U.S. Government (U.S. Department of State and USAID) will be co-chairing the Global Action on Disability (GLAD Network), along with the permanent co-chair of the network - International Disability Alliance (IDA).
Vladimir Cuk, the Executive Director of IDA and co-chair of the GLAD Network, commented: “The United States is coming to co-chair GLAD at the perfect time. As we enter a post-covid world and as we see persons with disabilities being disproportionately affected during war and crises, we have a lot to do together to ensure inclusion for all."
The GLAD Network is a coordination body of bilateral and multilateral donors and agencies, public and private foundations as well as key coalitions of the disability movement with a common interest in achieving inclusive international development and humanitarian action. The Network works together to achieve its common goals, guided and under the leadership of the GLAD co-chairs.
Prior to the U.S. Government, the GLAD Network has been co-chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, the Government of the United Kingdom, and the Government of Australia.
