Generation
Generation works to support young people to attain jobs and skills through a replicable approach focusing on the following themes: return on investment; scale and speed; disconnected youth: skills blend; and self-financing. Generation partners with the private sector to jointly design training curriculum to deliver the skills, mindset, behaviors and tools that young people need to perform and succeed in their jobs. The private sector, in turn, provides job placement, on-the-job performance feedback and pays a portion of the training costs. This work is carried out through employer pre-commitments, 8–12 week work readiness programs that blend technical, behavioral, and mindset skills for specific professions, social wrap-around services (e.g. stipends, childcare, transport), and on-going coaching support once the learner is hired the employer. USAID is supporting the work in India, Kenya, and Mexico.
