USAID invests in global education because we know that the positive effects of education are far-reaching—serving as a driver for all other development and for the reduction of extreme poverty. Many of the most pressing challenges facing the U.S. around the globe, including mass migration and violent extremism, might be mitigated by ensuring that children and youth receive a quality education. Working with our country partners, USAID programs provide children with a quality education, and youth with job prospects, that can help counter the chances they become prone to extremist ideology.

Following is a list of illustrative USAID-funded programs used in tracking progress toward the goals of the USAID Education Strategy 2011-2015.
