Enabling Writers Success Stories and Lessons Learned
The Enabling Writers Workshop Program (EW) used Bloom software to develop decodable and leveled books for use in early grade reading programs. In this webinar, the EW teams in Bangladesh and Nepal discussed language selection, quality assurance issues, and scale up and integration opportunities for the EW model into teacher training curriculum. EW Bangladesh created 200 books in Bangla and EW Nepal created 1,400 books in 7 local languages.
Implemented by University Research Co.'s Reading within Reach project, Enabling Writers is the result of a prize competition conducted by All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD) to produce a book authoring software that can be used globally to develop decodable and leveled books for use in early grade reading programs. The competition was supported by the ACR GCD partners—USAID, World Vision and the Australian government —and resulted in the adaptation of Bloom book creation software.
